Ask Green Queen
295 days ago by greenqueenHello Green Queen,
I am a French woman very careful about the environment…I am especially looking for a universal household cleaning product that doesn’t seem to be available in Hong Kong: its called \”pierre d\’argile\” in French and is a cleaning product made of white clay and soap, usually sold in a round pot. Its green, clean and so efficient that it replaces all the other household cleaning stuff. If you know where I can find this, it will help me protect the environment, which in HK is quite a challenge!
I would also like to know if you have any idea of how I could recycle my glass bottles as they are not collected in the recycling scheme in this country.
Thank you in advance.
Kind regards,
Marine
Dear Marine,
Thank you for your green query. After much further research, Green Queen regrets to say that there is no viable glass recycling programme available right now in Hong Kong. There have been some pilot programmes in the past by the Environmental Protection Dept and the Jockey Club but so far, none of them have been set up permanently. The best thing to do is reuse the bottles and jars within your own home. We sincerely hope this situation will change in the near future but as it stands, there isn’t a proper solution.Regarding Pierre D’Argile, Green Queen has searched everywhere- but alas! It is unavailable currently in Hong Kong. Perhaps you can bring some back with you or consider ordering it online? It appears that only 2 companies sell it online: Pierre Ideale (http://pierre-ideale.com/) and FirstStone (http://www.nettoyant-argile.com/ ). I also recommend you ask eco shops in Hong Kong to order it- if you love it, chances are many others will too! Perhaps speak to Just Green? (www.justgreen.com.hk).It is a shame that the answers to your questions were not more positive but Hong Kong still has some progress to make in the green world!Yours,Green QueenLive a Greener, Cleaner, Kinder Life!Ask Green Queen
