K11 Art Install x Free Burgers: Butchers Club Debuts Impossible Burger

3 Mins Read

Another noteworthy addition to Hong Kong’s plant-based burger scene, the Butchers Club has launched a new Impossible burger in all its Hong Kong locations. To celebrate the launch of this collaboration, Impossible Foods and The Butchers Club have commissioned local artist Terena Wong to create a piece of 3D artwork on sustainability to be showcased at Tsim Sha Tsui’s K11 Mall. The burger chain joins a number of other restaurants in Hong Kong that have showcased Impossible dishes on their menus, including restaurants by Beef & Liberty, Dining Concepts, Cali-Mex, Pure Group’s noodfood, Hotel ICON and more.

The Silicon Valley based food-tech startup first launched in Hong Kong in 2018, and is now available at over 200 outlets in the city. While the chefs at The Butchers Club locations have been serving up plant-based burgers since 2017, when they began showcasing the Beyond Meat patty, they are now offering even more menu vegan-friendly options with this collaboration. The Impossible Classic Burger (HK$ 120), featuring the Impossible Foods burger patty, vegan cheddar, pickled beetroot crisps andvegan sauce on a vegan scotch bap.

To celebrate the collaboration, Impossible Foods and The Butchers Club commissioned Terena Wong to create a piece of artwork that will raise awareness on global climate change. The local artist has previously worked with non-profit and governmental organisations alike, producing community art projects, street artworks, mural paintings and 3D floor paintings. In this latest 3D piece, Wong aims to symbolise the sustainable aspect of the partnership between Impossible Foods’ and The Butchers Club’s – to restore biodiversity and reduce the impact of climate change by changing the way we eat. Impossible Foods has long been committed to promoting plant-based diets as a way to create a more sustainable global food system that requires less resources and generates less of a carbon footprint. The thought-provoking installation will be showcased from the 15th – 31st August at the Piazza of K11 Mall, where The Butchers Club has a restaurant location.

Commenting on her piece, Wong said: “I care deeply about the preservation of our planet…By making the piece 3D, I want to encourage passersby to interact with the work itself, have fun with it, and ultimately hope to inspire them to consider making more sustainable lifestyle choices.”

In addition to her 3D creation, the collaboration partners have also commissioned Wong to design custom Impossible flags that will top the plant-based burger served at The Butchers Club. To further the excitement of burger-lovers, the first 30 diners to visit The Butchers Club’s K11 location every day between now and August 30th and share a photo of the artwork on Instagram using the hashtags #ImpossibleBurger and #TheButchersClub will win a free Impossible Classic Slider.

Hopefully, the launch of more plant-based offerings in the city alongside Wong’s meaningful 3D artwork will encourage Hong Kong foodies to choose more sustainable meals. Reducing our intake of animal-based proteins remains one of the most positive actions that we can take for both our health and the planet.
