Hong Kong’s Best Zero Waste Natural Deodorants

4 Mins Read

There is nothing sexy about smelly armpits. We know. Living in a hot and sticky climate like ours, we know how important deodorant is to our daily hygiene routine. But not all deodorants or antiperspirants are made equal. Most of the store bought stuff are loaded with toxins, possible carcinogenic aluminum, and a host of other unwanted chemicals and preservatives. It used to be that finding a natural deodorant that worked was basically impossible but that was then. Now, there are some awesome anti-odour products out there, designed to keep you smelling fresh and relatively dry. Even better, most of them are made locally and come in reusable packaging. Thanks to a growing number of eco-friendly companies, we’ve found a handful of sustainable, natural deodorants for you to sink your pits into. Behold, Green Queen’s list of the best zero waste, all natural deodorants that you can find in Hong Kong!

Coconut Matter

The newest natural deodorant to hit the Hong Kong block, Coconut Matter’s Prebiotic Deodorant Stick is cruelty-free, vegan, and made with absolutely no nasties. Handcrafted in small batches with all-natural ingredients like organic virgin coconut oil and hemp seed, mineral-based magnesium (essential for good health), and a bioactive compound to fight the musk without clogging your sweat glands, the high-performing deodorant was formulated to combat Hong Kong’s heat and humidity. Packaged in a biodegradable, easy-glide stick from recycled paper cardboard tubes lined with wax paper, choose from four different unisex scents – we love 5 Spring!

Available at Edgar, OrganicWe, SEED, SpiceBox Organics, HonestBee Concierge and Coconut Mattter’s online shop.

ZeroYet100

Homegrown in Hong Kong, ZeroYet100 is a great option for protective underarm armour. Clean, toxin-free, and made with ingredients like coconut oil, Shea butter, aloe vera, and witch hazel, the product has even obtained the Hong Kong Standards and Testing Centre (STC) Mark Certification to stay transparent about what they do. We particularly love their light lemongrass scent that stays put throughout the day. For those who love options, you get two different zero waste packages to choose from: their OG natural deodorant recyclable metal pot (which we absolutely love- read our full review here) or their newest option, a paper tube packaging made from 100% recycled paper that can be recycled in the waste-paper collection after you’re finished .

Available at online platforms like NO!W No Waste, FoodCraft, and their online shop.

NO!W No Waste

The star ingredient in French brand Lamazuna is cymbopogon martini oil, a natural essential oil known for its ability to neutralize bacteria. Completely natural and vegan, this antibacterial 30g bar is made with coconut oil and sunflower seed wax. Designed and handmade in France, the PETA-certifed deodorant has a big fanbase who love the fresh lemony scent. Packaged in a zero waste compostable box, simply run the solid ergonomic block under some water, rub it on your pits, and be on your way! Ideal for traveling and gym bunnies.

Plastic-Free HK

They are one of our favorite vegan (and cruelty-free) apothecaries, so we’re thrilled that Brooklyn-based Meow Meow Tweet has made its way to Hong Kong by way of Plastic-Free HK! Made with a number of certified organic and fair trade ingredients like arrowroot powder, cocoa seed butter, and unrefined plant oils and butters, we love Meow Meow Tweet’s fun and whimsical designs. Available in a cream pot or biodegradable PCW paper stick, with or without baking soda (for those with super sensitive skin), Plastic-Free HK carries an assortment of scents to suit your fancy.

No one does bath time quite like Lush (hello, bath bombs!) but their eco-friendly, triple citrus deodorant bar, T’eo, will get you out the door smelling fresh and clean without any added nasties. Made with juniper berry, tea tree and lemongrass, the UK-based aluminum-free bar combines all the sweat-absorbing powders and odor-neutralizing essential oils to keep your pits in check. Simply apply the white side of the bar directly on dry underarms, and you’re good to go.
