SIMPLY Veggie does meat-free versions on Indonesian classics and delicacies, from nasi goreng to spicy tom yum. Most of what’s on offer on their menu is vegan-friendly, but some items might contain egg, so it’s best to double check. In addition to Indonesian staples, SIMPLY Veggie offer healthy daily specials too!

For something a bit fancier, try Burgreens. They are popular due to their veggie burger offerings that attracts even the city’s hard-core meat lovers. Most of what’s on the menu can be converted to be vegan-friendly, and they also serve up a special selection of raw vegan dishes such as the Raw Vegan Burrito or the Raw Vegan Pad Thai. Feeling lazy and don’t want to move? They do deliveries too.

If you’re in the mood for something to satisfy your sweet-tooth, Rumah Juliet is the café to visit. This dessert house offers mouthwatering vegan cakes that are not only tasty but also beautifully decorated with icing and fruit glazing. From doughnuts to cake and pastries – this place has it all! Sometimes, the café does vegan main courses too!

iVegan Pizza

In need of a pizza fix? Go to iVegan Pizza. While it is a bit further out from the city centre, this restaurant makes it so easy to convince your non-veggie friends to eat plant-based for a night. Their menu boasts a wide selection of vegan and vegetarian pizzas, with lots of veggie-based toppings such as mushrooms and peppers, as well as plant-based meat alternatives and cheeses.

Nalu Bowls

Nalu Bowls is a healthy café serving up colourful plant-based bowls. They first rocked the vegan scene in Bali as a smoothie bowl haven, and has since expanded to open a branch in the capital. Nalu Bowls in Jakarta retains their classic Bali island vibe, so it’s pretty popular amongst the health-conscious locals, fitness community, and tourists alike. Topped with homemade granola and fruits, stop by for breakfast or a pick-me-up in the afternoon!

Bakmi Vegan 99 is the local, no-frills vegan noodle shop in Jakarta. This little stall is located on a sidestreet, and provides delicious food at an affordable price. Locals say that the must try’s on the menu include their original take on authentic dumpling noodles, spicy sambal and Ayam Penyet. They even offer a vegan version of catfish rice noodles!

Waytuki Vegetarian Restaurant is a well-known veggie restaurant in Jakarta serving hearty South and North Indian cuisine. The established eatery has many locations across Jakarta, and is even popular amongst non-vegetarians for their authentic dishes. While the menu does feature eggs and dairy, they have a range of vegan options on offer.
