In 2050, the world population will be nine billion people. But according to the numbers, there won’t be enough to feed half that population at our current food production rates. So what are we to do? On September 21 – 22, the Food’s Future Summit will return for its second installment, gathering international speakers from various industries to discuss trends, strategic thinking, and prospective innovations within the culinary world.

After a successful launch last year, the Foodie sponsored forum has established itself as a meeting place for those who wish to make a difference, utilizing the food industry to combat climate change. The two-day event will seek to identify new solutions in the market and further ideas along different facets in F&B. Packed with keynote speeches, panel discussions, interactive workshops and talks, the summit will also debut its partnership with the Consulate of Sweden to highlight the Scandinavian nation’s innovative solutions for environmental development. Josh Tetrick, founder and CEO of JUST, will keynote the event this year. Committed to revolutionizing how the world looks at nutrition and health, the Fulbright Scholar will speak on the new food revolution and what it would look like to start over in food. A Foodie Marketplace will also be on deck both days where brands and startups will offer participants a glimpse into the newest innovations and products of the food industry.

As livestock-based food production impacts our air quality, water sources, oceans and is responsible for more greenhouse gas emissions on a global scale than any other industry, many food tech companies have developed plant-based alternatives to recreate the texture and flavor of meats to quell the dangerously damaging impact. While some have welcomed these change-makers, other have steadfastly opposed the faux meat market. Sonalie Figueiras, Green Queen founder and CEO, will be hosting a panel to discuss this hotly disputed topic, “The Future of Protein” on Day Two, September 22nd at 12:15PM. A full lineup of the agenda can be found here.

Recognizing future-forward businesses and empowering consumes to make choices that mitigate the effects of our environmental decline, this year’s event is not one to be missed. For more information or to purchase tickets, click here.
