Found: First CBD Concept Store & Café Opens In Hong Kong

With Found, Hong Kong welcomes the city’s first CBD café and boutique concept store. Opened in June this year, the shop offers an entire range of CBD and hemp-derived products, from oils and tinctures to capsules and even CBD-infused dog treats. While CBD has long been having a huge moment on the global stage, it looks like the trend is now hitting Hong Kong as awareness about natural health and wellness reaches all-time highs.

Situated on Tai On Terrace, a quiet lane on the hills of Sheung Wan and the previous location of MANA Poho, Found is Hong Kong’s very first exclusively CBD-themed café and boutique shop. It is launched by Altum, a Perth-based distributor of cannabinoid products for the Asia-Pacific market. Customers at Found can browse through its range of products made with cannabidiol, the hemp-derived chemical compound that is non-psychoactive and associated with a number of therapeutic properties

Some of these products include oils, tinctures, capsules, body lotions and balms, as well as pre-packaged snacks and drinks – including pet-friendly items like CBD dog treats. While the café side has yet to begin operations, the company hopes to be able to offer an entire menu with CBD food and beverages, from coffee and tea to chocolates and pastries

Aside from browsing through Found’s long list of CBD items, the space itself aims to serve as a safe space for customers to learn and ask questions about CBD and its plethora of health benefits. Unlike THC, the better-known psychoactive compound derived from cannabis, CBD does not get users high, but helps relieve chronic pain, improve mood, reduce stress, anxiety and alleviate insomnia.

Scientific research has also found a link between CBD use and helping patients suffering from chronic diseases, such as Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, epilepsy and an adjunct therapy alongside cancer treatments.

“With Found, we are establishing a touchpoint for individuals to access these products directly and speak with one of our knowledgeable team members about the benefits of cannabinoids,” Fiachra Mullen, marketing director of Altum, told Time Out.

The launch of Found comes as the demand for natural wellness remedies and CBD in particular continues to grow amongst the city’s health-conscious consumers. Earlier this year, Altum introduced two CBD online brands into the Hong Kong market – B2C platform Felix & Co and B2B website Life CBD, which currently supplies some local cafés such as Elephant Grounds and Be Juiced.

Globally, CBD has taken the world by storm in recent years. According to statistics from Knowledge Navigator, a backend tool providing insight into consumer trends, CBD is taking over the charts for popularity and has outperformed some of the biggest celebrities – including the likes of Kanye West and The Beatles – in terms of searches and social media mentions.

Even personal care giant Colgate wants in on the market opportunity. Earlier in February, the conglomerate announced the acquisition of Hello Products, the fastest-growing natural oral care brand in the U.S. with a number of CBD oral health offerings.
