How did yoga enter your life?

I discovered yoga after moving to Hong Kong six years ago and instantly fell in love with it. Yoga taught me how to live in the present mindfully and patiently, as well as how to find health and happiness within. It made me feel more empowered, aware and grateful. Whilst I had a successful career in fashion, yoga slowly started to take over my life so I quit my corporate job and went to India to become a yoga teacher. As my practice deepened, teaching became a natural progression to give back to the community and spread the word about yoga.

Where and what type of yoga do you teach?

I teach a mix of Hatha and Vinyasa Flow, focusing on alignment, combining core strength, stamina and flexibility with deep relaxation. I have recently started aerial yoga workshops on the beach using bamboo tripods which have had a lot of interest. The idea is to bring the practice out of the studio into nature, check out my website for more details. I also teach candlelit yoga at Yoga Bam Bam. I believe that with minimal visual distractions you are able to focus on yourself during the practice, link your breath with movement and deepen the connection of mind and body. The darkness, the sounds and the heat will release tensions and help you to let go.

What yoga mat do you use every day?

I love my Lululemon mat for its grip although I have recently tried my friend’s Liforme mat and I found it fantastic, plus it’s eco-friendly, so I might get one for myself.

What yoga accessory do you swear by?

I would say my phone because I play music from it and music is very important in my practice. As much I love silence and always leave space for it, the right music lifts you up, gets you in the flow and helps to relax later on, bringing peace and tranquility.

What is your favorite yogawear brand?

I love the vibrant prints from Brazil by Liquido, they are probably the most comfortable yoga pants on the planet. Lululemon will always be my favorite for performance, design and functionality.

What is your daily mantra?

My mantra is: ‘Everything I need is within me’. Freedom, joy, love and harmony is what everybody needs and is looking for. This mantra is a daily reminder that what you need and truly want is all on the inside. The outside can definitely help you see things but always remember to look inward for happiness because it is already there.

What yoga studio do you enjoy practicing at?

Pure Yoga– I have been a member for 6 years and I can say they have some of the most amazing, dedicated and inspiring teachers, plus and I love the variety of classes and locations. Yoga Bam Bam is a gorgeous space with good vibes and intimacy for smaller group or private classes.

Where do you go to eat?

Definitely MANA! Fast Slow Food, Home Eat to Live, Nood, Grassroots Pantry, and Genie Juicery.

What’s your favorite thing about Green Queen?

I love the convenience of having all health and wellness news tailored to Hong Kong on one platform. It covers pretty much all areas a conscious yogi could ask for. There are a ton of restaurant reviews, great recipes and inspiring articles.
