We are thrilled to share some exciting dining news: in the past few weeks, a whole slew of new healthy eating options have opened their doors across the city. Below are seven of the latest restaurants and cafes that are serving consciously created meals you will LOVE. 

Vanimal

March 2017 Update: Vanimal has closed down. 

Vanimal is the new sexy beast on the K-Town dining scene, or should we say the city’s vegan scene. This new plant-based eatery is seriously upping the veggie stakes (ahem) with their Spanish gastronomy-forward menu, not to mention some Japanese culinary inspiration. Highlights to look for: slow-cooked Italian free-range egg,  cepes & shitake beurre blanc and Jerusalem artichoke chips, mixed beans croquettes with homemade turnip powder and seasonal vegetable tempura with homemade fermented bean curd powder. We love their Daily Catch concept: diners get to choose their veggies from a basket of farm fresh produce. Vanimal also boasts an impressive cocktail menu and some gorgeous desserts: apparently the 5572 chocolate one is out of this world!

January 2017 Update: 3/3rds Central has now closed down.

We can’t get enough of 3/3rds’ moreish salad buffet with offerings like roasted aubergine & saffron yoghurt, wild rice pilaf with cranberries & almonds and Brussels sprouts with tahini & panko. It’s all very vegetarian friendly and if you pair a salad plate with their gourmet soups (think pumpkin & parmesan or veggie laksa), it’s the perfect lunch. And now you don’t have to get all the way out to Wong Chuk Hang. For those looking to splurge, they also have a variety of thin-crust pizzas and their famous 3-cheese & onion toastie. And don’t forget about their drool-worthy desserts and excellent coffee bar.

The Restaurant by The Kinnet

September 2017 Update: The Kinnet has now closed down.

Previously the Kinnet Cafe, The Restaurant by The Kinnet, has rebranded itself and launched an expanded menu to boot. Especially impressive are the extensive fish and seafood offerings, like the pan fried barramundi with celeriac puree, sauteed kale & snap peas, the smoked salmon bowl with sweet corn, kimchi, soft boiled egg, spinach & brown rice, or the crab eggs benedict with avocado & yoghurt Hollandaise, or even the whole baked fish of the day. The Restaurant by The Kinnet also features a salad bar, their signature tartines, soups, smoothies and cold-pressed juices. It’s the perfect spot for a leisurely (and healthful) lunch or dinner.

This Belgian organic bakery chain is much-loved all over the world from London to Los Angeles for its seeded breads, avocado toasts and homemade chocolate hazelnut spreads, so it’s exciting that we finally have our very own outlet in Hong Kong. But Le Pain Quotidien is not just your ordinary neighbourhood boulangerie. Also on offer: fruit & yoghurt cups, quinoa salads, Middle Eastern dips, gluten-free breads, homemade jams, sweet & savoury tartines, cheese platters, charcuterie and more! They also have an extensive organic egg menu, from scrambled to poached and everything in between- they make for an ideal healthy brunch spot.

It’s been said before and we will say it again: good Lebanese cuisine in this city is hard to find. Thanks to the Black Sheep boys, your hummus problems may now be over. Their new digs, in Life Cafe’s old spot, offer busy Hong Kongers a comforting selection of Middle-Eastern dips, mezzes, salads, grilled fish and skewered meats. Everything at Maison Libanaise, from the pita to the pickles to the dessert cookies to the almond falafels, is house made so expect only the freshest quality. If you are after a new healthy lunch takeaway spot, then line up for their wraps and salad bowls- we can vouch for their yum factor. We recommend the shredded halloumi with spiced zaatar wrap that comes with chopped Syrian salad and a pomegranate labneh.

Just Opened: LN Fortunate Coffee

This just-opened coffee shop is barely out of its soft launch phase so nothing is set in stone but we peeked and found quality single origin coffee and a fully vegan menu that includes pastas (black truffle & mushroom), soups (vegan meatballs in tomato soup udon) and salad sets (beetroot & mixed green salad). We also spied veggie sandos, waffles and fruit cups. Definitely worth a visit to the ‘Pun!

Soft Launched: Supafood

The team behind organic cafe Locofama & conscious Chinese Sohofama are back with a new healthy eating concept: Supafood is an organic fast food spot currently in its soft launch phase that caters to the fitness junkie crowd. Think rice bowls, salad boxes and ciabatta sandwiches, all made with organic ingredients. Supafood sources their produce directly from organic farms, thereby eliminating the middle man and offering you, the end consumer, really decent prices (they start at HKD 48).
