Om For Kids: Complete Guide To Children’s Yoga Classes

4 Mins Read

With the amount of pressure our children face in the local school system – its continuous assessments and sheer volume of homework and after-school test preps – our kids these days lead sedentary lifestyles, habits which will inevitably take a toll on their overall health and wellness. It’s important to remember that sleep and play (yes, having fun!) are vital to their growth.

It’s no secret that yoga benefits adults in so many ways, and if presented in a way that resonates with children, think of all the ways yoga can help counter the stress experienced by our littles living in the hustle of Hong Kong; it affects them too. Having your tiny tot to pre-teen youngster involved with yoga can help them develop better body and spatial awareness, which can help lessen those bumps and bruises that children get from clumsy collisions or encourage self-esteem and relaxation to navigate their daily challenges at school. Allow your little monkeys to put all their creative energy to good use and foster and sense of calmness and concentration in a non-competitive environment. We put together five of the best kids yoga guide around Hong Kong to bring out the inner light in our children!

Little Yogis

One of the first dedicated kids yoga studios to open in the city, Little Yogis brings a combination of yoga, mindfulness and healthy eating to Hong Kong littles. Their unique approach introduces asanas and breathing techniques to help kids relax, focus, and concentrate. Toddler classes, for strong walkers to three-year-olds, are full of fun and imagination where instructors lead children on imaginary trips under the sea to safari explorations. Kids yoga consists of utilising games to practice yoga poses for strength and balance training. With classes available from ages two to eight, all hourlong sessions have 40 minutes of yoga and 20 minutes of healthy cooking in their child-friendly kitchen.
