Lindt Is Releasing Two New Vegan Oat Milk Chocolate Bars For Veganuary

2 Mins Read

Lindt & Sprungli is already gearing up for Veganuary. The chocolate giant announced on World Vegan Day (November 1) that it will release two new vegan milk chocolate bars in the UK in January 2022 in time for the campaign, which encourages people to go plant-based for the whole month.

Starting from January 2022, the brand’s new Lindt Classic Recipe Vegan Smooth and Lindt Classic Recipe Vegan Hazelnut will be available on retail shelves in the UK at Sainsbury’s nationwide. Both bars have ditched traditional dairy for oat milk to make the recipe vegan.

The two new bars use oat milk and almond paste to recreate the creaminess consumers love about milk chocolate.

The UK roll-out will coincide with Veganuary, the month-long event where pledgers go vegan for 31 days—a movement that has already garnered well over 1 million participants worldwide since its inception.

In addition to being vegan-friendly, the bars are gluten-free and safe for coeliacs. They will be retailed for £3.00 per 100g bar at Sainsbury’s outlets across the country, as well as online through Lindt’s own website and on Amazon.

It’s not the first time Lindt has released a vegan chocolate bar, having previously debuted a collection of “Hello” oat milk chocolates in Germany. There are three flavour varieties, Hazelnut, Salted Caramel, and Cookie.

Plant-based chocolate competition

The announcement comes as the competition in the plant-based chocolate space is heating up. More chocolate brands have rolled out vegan versions of their most popular products in recent months in response to growing demand from consumers.

Mondelez has become the latest to join the vegan chocolate trend, and just launched its Cadbury Plant Bar, a 100% dairy-free version of its iconic Dairy Milk bar, across the UK. Other iconic brands that now have plant-based options include Nestlé’s Vegan KitKat and Valrhona’s 46% milk chocolate made for pastry chefs and gourmet cooks.
