Serving an array of popular Mexican dishes, the Impossible Foods’ meat alternative will be featured in six signature Cali-Mex dishes: Impossible Tacos (HKD108) featuring three freshly baked corn or flour tortillas filled with pico de gallo, a blend of cheeses and sour cream; Impossible Quesadilla (HKD158); Impossible Burrito (HKD108) packed with all the fixings plus a choice of beans and rice; Impossible Nachos (HKD158) made with fresh corn chips or fries topped with jalapeños, sour cream and guacamole; Impossible Enchiladas (HKD148) in a fresh corn tortilla, smothered in red chili pepper sauce; and the Impossible Mexican Lasagna (HKD158) made from layers of corn tortillas with veggies. On top of being vegan-protein friendly, plant-based eaters can now rejoice even further: all items can be made vegan upon request with dairy-free sour cream (by Tofutti) and vegan cheese (by Daiya) as Cali-Mex becomes Hong Kong’s first Mexican chain to offer vegans a fully plant-based 1-for-1 dining experience. Customers can order off the menu or create their own dishes subbing Impossible meat, Daiya cheese and Tofutti sour cream according to their own preferences. Órale!

Impossible Foods Expanding FAST Across Hong Kong

The Silicon Valley foodtech company is served in nearly 3,000 restaurants across the US, Hong Kong, and just recently, MacauAfter collaborating with Hong Kong’s leading chefs May Chow of Little Bao and Happy Paradise, and Michelin-starred Uwe Opocensky of Beef & Liberty to debut Impossible Foods’ first foray into Asia, the burger that “looks, cooks, and tastes like ground beef” has rapidly expanded to many popular restaurants and luxury hotels in the city.

Diners can now find Impossible Foods meat at 30+ restaurants across the city, including Urban Bakery Works, Plat Du Jour, and Alto, and five-star hotels Hotel ICON and The Peninsula Hong Kong, and each venue has created its own Impossible dishes, many with a uniquely Asian twist. In July, Impossible Foods partnered with Galaxy Macau to launch their product in 3 popular spots: CHA BEI, The Apron Oyster Bar & Grill, and The Noodle Kitchen.

Impossible Foods Aims Big & Global

Backed by an all-star roster of celebrities, philanthropists and venture capitalists including Bill Gates and Li Ka-shing, the Impossible Burger is made from simple ingredients including wheat protein, potato protein, coconut oil and heme – an molecule created by the company that gives the meatless patty its meaty taste (for lack of a better word) thanks to its iron content (and which the FDA recently approved). Developing a new generation of meats made entirely from plants, be on the lookout for Impossible’s plant-based seafood and cheeses in the near future.
