Solar Impulse Foundation: 1,000 Profitable Climate Innovations Ready To Deploy

3 Mins Read

Solar Impulse Foundation founder Bertrand Piccard has announced that he and his team have analyzed and readied a one-of-a-kind portfolio of cleantech solutions available to governments, businesses, and individuals to combat climate change.

Switzerland-based, Solar Impulse Foundation is founded by environmental advocate and explorer Bertrand Piccard and is a non-profit working to help stakeholders and decision-makers to embrace environmental solutions.

After three years of research, Piccard and his team have found, assessed, and labeled 1,000 cleantech solutions that will be profitable for the environment as well as the economy.

These solutions aim to help organizations reach their zero-carbon goals and meet the targets set in the Paris agreement. It is rolled up into a guide that provides an expansive database of climate tech solutions that can be analyzed by industry, financial or environmental impact.

In a press release seen by Green Queen, Piccard said that we no longer can keep giving excuses for not taking any action against climate change. “We have proof that many solutions exist to make our world sustainable and efficient right now, and that it can be done profitably. Now we need to make sure that governments and corporations start to deploy the technology that is right for their situations. Our goal to reach 1000 Solutions has now been attained, with technology from small and large companies from around the globe, but this is not the end of the journey.

There are no excuses for inaction–decision-makers can no longer say that tackling climate change is too expensive or destroys jobs. We have proof that many solutions exist to make our world sustainable and efficient right now, and that it can be done profitably. Now we need to make sure that governments and corporations start to deploy the technology that is right for their situations

Targeting challenges in the environment from over 67 countries in areas including water, energy, construction, mobility, industry, and agriculture, the companies with labeled solutions were assessed by over 400 independent industry experts before been credited with the Solar Impulse Efficient Solution Label.

Some of the solutions include biofuels, green hydrogen, waste-to-fuel, carbon-negative concrete, energy harvesting devices, and several others.

As countries emerge from the pandemic, many governments find themselves at a critical post- COVID ‘re-set’ point. They are assessing and investing in cleantech and clean jobs programs using a variety of stimulus funds

Piccard, who has circumnavigated the globe in a 100% solar airplane, added: “As countries emerge from the pandemic, many governments find themselves at a critical post- COVID ‘re-set’ point. They are assessing and investing in cleantech and clean jobs programs using a variety of stimulus funds. By providing political and economic decision- makers a tool kit, these leaders can now adopt much more ambitious energy and environmental policies, with the Foundation helping them to set a roadmap to reach their carbon neutral goals by 2050.”

Using the guide as a basis, Piccard is developing a ‘cleanprint’ for public officials, that will list specific solutions to achieve climate goals, and will be presented at the COP26 Climate Summit in November 2021.

Piccard will present the first official Cleanprint at the upcoming COP26 Climate Summit in November 2021 in Glasgow.
