VictuaLiv: Latinx Military Veteran Desiree Mora Creates The Ultimate MultiVitamin For Vegans

3 Mins Read

Co-founded by latinx military vet Desiree Mora, VictuaLiv is a new vegan supplement featuring nine essential vitamins and minerals to help consumers easily transition to a plant-based diet based on research on the most important nutrients for those following an animal-free eating regime.

When founder Mora’s son was born, she began researching, reading, and watching documentaries about food. During this time, she came across Vegucated, a 2011 American documentary that discusses how one can shift to a vegan diet. The film set off a switch for Mora and she made the decisions to transition away from animal meats completely and switch her family to a plant-based diet.

A key obstacle for Mora was understanding how to ensure she was getting the right nutrition and following a balanced diet. With her hectic schedule and limited time as a new mum, Mora ended up with anemia, a condition whereby someone lacks adequate healthy red blood cells to carry oxygen to their body’s tissues. This is often caused by dietary iron deficiency. Mora tried out a range of multi-vitamins but none of them worked.

To address this nutritional gap Mora, along with plant-based athlete Alexander Hovik, founded VictuaLiv, a supplement made from plant ingredients that contains nine essential nutrients and vitamins including vitamins D3 (as cholecalciferol), K2 (as menaquinone, B12 (as methylcobalamin), iron (as ferrous bisglycinate chelate), iodine (from potassium iodine), magnesium (glycinate chelate and oxide), zinc (as zinc citrate), cranberry seed oil and DHA (from marine algae). The blend was specifically developed for those on vegan diets.

In a press release seen by Green Queen, three-time entrepreneur Mora said, “I founded VictuaLiv, meaning food and life, with my partner because I wanted a multivitamin made specifically for my plant-based lifestyle, while also helping others make a successful and healthy transition.”

Thanks to VictuaLiv, Mora has managed to reverse her anemia and is thriving on a plant-based diet.

While most multivitamins have a laundry list of ingredients, Mora was laser-focused on creating a formula that only contains what vegans need and may be lacking from their diets. This includes vitamin D, which according to data collected between 2005 and 2006 by the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey, 41.6% of Americans are deficient in.

“Our focus of only including 9 ingredients just makes sense. The common multivitamin has a never-ending, long list of ingredients, and some ingredients end up canceling each other out. Ultimately, I believe in proper, healthy nutrition. I feel much more energized and better than ever. VictuaLiv is a dream come true for me.”

In addition to this, the process of extracting the ingredients and creating VictuaLiv’s formula is completely cruelty-free, and further, Mora ensures that the verifiable quantity of nutrients are mentioned on the label. Going forward, she is working to receive vegan certification for the blend.

Mora adds that if one uses VictuaLiv, there isn’t any need to take additional supplements and it will provide you with all the nutrients you require and help you thrive on a plant-based diet even with or without hectic time schedules.
