Green Queen Travels: Where To Eat The Best Vegan Food In New Delhi

6 Mins Read

India has always been an incredibly welcoming country for vegetarian, a place where almost one third of the population avoids meat of any kind. While Southern India tends to be a vegan culinary sanctuary, the plant-based dining scene in the country’s capital has been growing of late, to cater to people embracing meat-free lifestyles for health and environmental reasons. These days, you can find typically meat-laden Northern Indian dishes such as lamb biryani and butter chicken in vegan-friendly formats. Below we roundup New Delhi’s best vegan and vegetarian restaurants.

Bhaja Govindam is a vegetarian Indian restaurant with many vegan-friendly options. The joint has limited seats so there is often a bit of a line outside, especially because their veggie Indian food has earned rave reviews. They serve time-tested traditional South Indian dishes like dosas, uttapams and thalis. The menu also contains some international fare, like grilled sandwiches and fries, but most recommend sticking to the classic Indian menu. It is best to specify to ditch the dairy if you’re vegan.
