Urban Eco-Wellness Retreat elu. Spa Opens In Central Hong Kong

3 Mins Read

A new urban eco-spa, elu. Spa, has recently opened its doors in the heart of Hong Kong’s Soho district in Central. The boutique spa will serve city residents who are in need of a dose of restoration, rejuvenation and escape from the concrete jungle. We had the opportunity to experience elu first hand and spoiler alert: we loved it. From the organic products to the soothing wood-panelled decor to the crystal face mask, elu. Spa definitely ups the pampering ante.

The spa, which opened its doors in July this year, takes a holistic approach to wellness. Offering a range of services all designed to eliminate stress, elu. Spa is targeted at the busy community Hong Kong, whether in the corporate world and need a post-work break, or mothers who are constantly on-the-go.

What sets the spa apart from conventional retreats is their dedication to using only all-natural and organic products in their menu of signature treatments. From toxin-free nail polish, which is notoriously rare in Hong Kong, to aromatherapy massages and body scrubs using paraben-free, synthetic fragrance and colouring free beauty and skin care. In addition to massages, waxes and manicures, the elu. Spa also offers a Gemstone Facial, which involves a mask and rollers made entirely out of jade or rose quartz paired with all-natural treatment products by Éminence, which is said to improve elasticity and energy in skin.

During our visit, we were greeted by herbal tea and refreshments in the lounge area, before completing a consultation to pinpoint our personal target areas and choose from an individualised selection of organic essential oils. We were then pampered by the Ultimate Aromatherapy Experience, which involved a mix of Swedish and neuromuscular techniques using organic essential oil blends by Aromatherapy Associates tailored to our personal stress profiles.

Despite being a few steps away from Central’s bustle, the pint-sized operation (5 treatment rooms) is a welcome break from Hong Kong’s pace of life and as soon as you step inside, you feel transported. From the purified air to aromatherapy scents wafting throughout to the calming soundtrack and dimmed lighting, it’s hard not to immediately feel a mental release. We left feeling relaxed and like we had gotten a mini escape- despite only being there two hours. elu is the ideal urban eco-spa for the overworked and overstressed amongst us in need of a city getaway on a workday.
