Green Queen has put together this handy Hong Kong green wine guide. Santé!

Best In Store Experience

With over 90 organic and biodynamic wines, savvy and well-informed sales staff, and handy green stickers to help you identify the most sustainable choices,  Winebeast is the best shop in town to browse for the perfect green vintage.  They stock wines from around the world with a focus on Europe and offer various price points including bottles for under HKD 200. Winebeast also has an online shop complete with a Digital Sommelier service to help you choose the most appropriate wine for whatever occasion you need and wine pairing suggestions for every bottle, however locating green bottles on line can be tricky. Bonus: they are open every day of the week!

Green Queen Tip: Try their online Digital Sommelier service if you want to widen your horizons. Whilst they do have an online shop, locating the green choices can be tricky- best to visit them in person.

Best Wine Bar

Celebrating all things French, green and wine-related La Cabane a Vin is a wine bistro featuring a selection of around 200 organic and biodynamic French wines. Their focus is small yield, family-owned vineyards, which they source directly from the producers. There is no place Green Queen would rather be after a long week than relaxing on a at La Cabane a Vin, armed with a hangover-free glass of wine (organic wines usually don’t contain sulfites, which are linked to headaches). The servers are incredibly knowledgeable and always recommend the ideal bottle, no matter what the occasion. La Cabane a Vin also has a cellar further down on Hollywood Road where they host wine tastings and private events- clients are also welcome to stop by and shop for wines during office hours.

Cork Culture is an online retailer dedicated to organic and biodynamic ‘low interventionist’ wines that have no added sugar, use wild yeast, and are planted and harvested by hand. Their site is very user-friendly (in fact it was our favorite online user experience on the list!) and finding what you are looking for is easy and simple. Their selection of around 40 bottles ranges in price from less than HKD 200 to over HKD 1, 000 with a focus on French vintages with a few bottles from Spain, Germany and Italy as well. The site contains a wealth of information about green wine, a wine glossary and an overview of popular international wine rating systems. Orders over HKD 800 in Hong Kong and Kowloon have no delivery charge.

Green Queen Tip:  Cork Culture has an impressive selection of Grower Champagnes – Champagnes made with grapes from a single vineyard- to impress the guests at your next soiree.

Best for Local

While not organic or biodynamic,  The 8th Estate Winery is Hong Kong’s first and only locally produced wine, made with grapes from across the globe that are flash frozen upon harvest and shipped to Ap Lei Chau, where they follow traditional wine making processes to give the +852 its very own vintages. Locavore-tastic! Bottles range from HKD 100 to HKD 400, and you can order online or pick up at the winery directly. They also organize wine-related events, host private events and offer guided tours.
