2018 has given us no shortage of healthy food in Hong Kong. With a ton of plant-based dining options across the city, we’re shining a spotlight today on the northern part of the 852 – Kowloon! Blessed with nutritious and delicious cafes and restaurants, there’s a lot to love across the harbour that will wow you with fun flavours and quality ingredients. Offering wholesome and unprocessed options, here are the best local restaurants in Greater Tsim Sha Tsui that take plant-based eating to the next level. 

Green Common Harbour City

After a day of shopping at the largest shopping mall in Hong Kong, recharge and refuel at Green Common for an enjoyable meal of plant-based Asian and Western cuisine. Featuring a menu full of vegan meats from beloved brands like Gardein, Beyond Meat, JUST, and Omnipork, their pasta dishes are outstanding and the Beyond Burgers still top the charts! Come for a casual lunch or dinner and get your grocery shopping done afterward. Entrées start at HKD 68 and up.

A spacious cafe located on the restaurant row of Hau Fook Street in Tsim Sha Tsui, 2DP offers an extensive list of vegan and vegetarian specials. Short for the mathematical position of digits, 2 Decimal Places, the healthy hotspot serves fresh salads, vegan pastas, homemade veggie beef and fish burgers under awesome pseudonyms like Energy-Boom, Ultra-Fit, Anti-Ox, and Iron-Boost 💪 Lunch sets begin at HKD 66 and up that includes a daily rotating soup (their buckwheat pumpkin is fantastic). From lunch to late night, they only take cash or Alipay so come prepared and don’t leave without trying their dessert.

Meet At Sakura Veggie

Those who are skeptical of a vegan sushi spot, we feel you but suggest this popular Prince Edward haunt to try out before making any rulings. Meet At Sakura Veggie is a favorite amongst locals for Japanese and Asian-inspired vegetarian cuisine with plenty of vegan options. Serving innovative and tasty veggie rolls, vegan pork cutlet, and plant-based sashimi, swing by during lunchtime for delicious sets starting at HKD 39. Fish-free sushi never tasted so good!

Naturalead Veggie

An organic, vegan cafe serving a Japanese and Western inspired menu of fresh and creative eats, Naturalead Veggie is a must try for those looking to reap the pros of a macrobiotic diet. Health conscious without sacrificing flavor, this hidden gem offers seasonal ingredients with lunch sets starting from HKD 68 and up.

Sangeetha Vegetarian Restaurant

This Udupi and Chettinad-style restaurant chain has garnered a loyal local following over the years. Using familiar and fragrant spices, Sangeetha offers vegan-friendly, Jain options and some of the best South Indian vegetarian food in the city. Their dosas are impeccably crispy and stuffed with lots of choices to pick from. Set in a simple, no-frills cafe, thali set menu prices begin at HKD 60 and up.

Greenwoods Raw Cafe

For a light fare of natural, organic foods that will nourish your healthy eating needs, head to Greenwoods Raw Cafe in TST. The ever-changing set menu is all about gluten-free, non-refined, 100% raw vegan and living foods featuring colorful and fresh ingredients. Think raw pastas, cakes, sushi and salads – all nutrient dense and deliciously satisfying. Priced at around HKD 100 and up, be wary of their limited hours; reservations are welcome.

Saravana Bhavan

Boasting a lengthy menu of vegetarian and vegan dishes from North and South India and Pakistan, Saravana Bhavan remains one of the best all veg restaurants on Kowloon. Executing the classics with high quality ingredients, it’s no wonder they are one of the world’s largest chains with over 60 outlets. Specialities begin at HKD 60 and up, Saravana Bhavan has something for everyone. Come early before the lunch rush, or make reservations for dinner and please drink a mango lassi for us.

The Joomak

For a plant-based Korean dining experience, look no further than The Joomak inside Harbour City. An energetic bistro with a devoted vegan and vegetarian menu, choose from a variety of traditional bibimbap, jeon, or tteokbooki with a green twist. Main dishes begin at HKD 68 and up with lots of side dishes to accompany, and don’t forget to order their veggie and vegan desserts!
