Only mere months ago, the idea of a completely raw restaurant in Hong Kong seemed extremely unlikely. Along came Greenwoods Raw Cafe. Opened by Dr Simon Chau, the founder of the Hong Kong Vegetarian Society , and tucked away in a building in Kowloon, the cafe offers a gourmet raw dining experience. The set lunch menu options- they are not open for dinner- feature a selection of ‘classic’ gourmet raw food dishes like raw pasta made with zucchini spirals, raw chesecakes made with nut cheeses, raw sushi, raw soups, salads, raw pizza with a flax seed cracker base that experienced raw foodists will recognize from their travels in places like New York City, Los Angeles, London and Sydney where raw food gourmet cuisine is more established. A lovely place to eat a nutritious and alive meal- great for the health conscious amongst us as well as those who enjoy creative and elaborate meals.

Green Vitamin became famous for being Hong Kong’s first local & organic kale grower but in a few short months, it has transformed into the city’s most avant-garde prepared raw food brand. They package raw kale chips, raw coconut cookies (they call them domes), raw granola & raw flaxseed crackers and they bottle water kefir, coconut kefir, raw coconut yohgurt & various flavours of kombucha. Chef Priscilla Soligo is a raw & living food Chef cum artist. Her living foods creations are Michelin worthy- her Rawthentic Food site and Facebook page are filled with luscious shots of Michelin worthy dishes that could be served at any gourmet non raw restaurant.  There is nothing that she has not covered in her repertoire: fermented foods, gourmet nut cheeses, raw patisserie… She has trained with some of the foremost raw food chefs around the world and is constantly improving her craft. She teaches raw food workshops and is currently writing her first book. She is also working on a line of raw chocolate and energy bars which will debut in Hong Kong shortly. Nood Food – Pure Yoga’s Raw Vegan Juice Bar & Health Food Cafe

Just when our Organic Avenue obsession was getting to hard to bear, Pure Yoga went and launched nood food, Hong Kong’s answer to the the NYC juice bar craze. nood food offers raw foodists convenience and health on the go. They have packaged raw food meals like raw falafel with dips and raw zucchini pasta as well as an extensive range of cold-pressed juices and raw superfood smoothies plus raw snacks like raw chocolate, raw crackers and raw kale chips. Though mostly frequented by Pure members, the cafe is open to the public.
