6 Mins Read

Love going over to Macau for a quick getaway but wish you could start your day with a superfood smoothie? Green Queen has got you covered. Everything you need to know about living life the healthy way on our favorite neighbouring Portuguese island from where to eat, where to cleanse, where to stretch and where to shop!

Greens Kitchen & Juicery

Greens Kitchen & Juicery offers the Macau public healthy eats, snacks and drinks as well as detox juice plans. From raw granola bowls to vegan sandwiches & wraps to power smoothies, there is something for every palette. Whilst not strictly vegetarian, many items on the menu are vegan and they source organic as often as they can. They have a large selection of gluten free & refined sugar free baked goods including chocolate chip cookies, sticky honey doughnuts and vegan triple chocolate cupcakes- we were especially impressed by their Pili Nut & Caramel Cake. For their sandwiches, they source organic whole wheat bread and free range eggs, which they also use to make nutritious lunch options like kale quiche. Popular sando choices are Smoked Salmon & Goats Cheese, Egg Salad or go for their Chicken & Salsa Wrap. They also have a line of dehydrated fruit snacks. Their cold pressed juice and smoothie menu is also impressive- they have over 6 varieties of nut mylks, various green juices, coffee drinks & superfood water based drinks. For their detox/cleanse packages, make sure to order one day before by 5pm for pickup the next day. We love that you can get your juices delivered to your hotel!

Open Monday to Friday 10AM-7PM, Saturday – Sunday 11AM-5PM.

The Blissful Carrot

The Blissful Carrot is a much loved vegetarian takeaway shop cum bakery cafe in Taipa. The menu is packed with gluten free, raw and vegan options as well as vegetarian dishes. They are flexible too- anything can be made began upon request. Their menu selection is huge! They have over a dozen salads with enticing names like Mexican Fiesta and Farmers Market. They offer cold wraps (try the Sushi Wrap), hot grilled sandwiches (we love the T.L.T- just what it sounds like but with tempeh instead of bacon), pastas (including a soba noodle salad), rice bowls (don’t miss the Lentil Power Protein Bowl), tacos, quesadillas and (our favorite) all day breakfast options like gluten free pancakes and buckwheat hazelnut granola and superfruit acai bowl. Did we mention they also have a long list of cakes and cupcakes from their Blissful Bakery available for order, including a raw dessert line with options like carrot cake and chocolate hazelnut tart? We don’t want to forget to call out their passion for sustainable sourcing! They choose organic, fair trade and local as much as possible and are happy to give your more information if you need!

Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday: 10AM-7PM, Saturday – Sunday: 10AM-8PM.

Sattva Juicery is the latest healthy enterprise to hit Macau. They offer over 40+ (and growing) raw cold pressed juices, nut mylks, smoothies and waters, plus a smaller line of raw snacks. Every product is specifically designed to fulfill one or all of your health goals- be they about energy, nutrition or skincare. They offer categories such as Green Goodness (focused on getting a super punch of nutritious greens), Back To Your Roots (focusing on healthy root veggies), Good To Glow (for healthy skin and anti-ageing) and Rise & Shine (for breakfast). Order a day in advance by 5PM for next day delivery (the cleanse starts the third day). They offer 1 day, 3 day, 5 day or 7 day options but are extremely flexible and can customize to suit your needs. You get 8 bottles a day of 500 ML so the portions are generous (and filling). Whilst most of their orders are for pre-planned cleanses, they are now delivering a selection of their drinks to hotel fitness centres and spas so find out if your hotel features them! On the sourcing front, they use imported produce and all of their superfood ingredients are organic.

Veggie Macau

Veggie Macau is vegetarian cafe offering salads, pastas, pizzas, burgers, curries, soups and the like in various plant-based incarnations- they charmingly refer to themselves as a ‘veggetaria!’ We love their fresh spring rolls, veggie ‘Chicken A La King’ and quirkily named Potato Opera Frittata. All their desserts (including many types of cheesecake, try the Lavender & Fig one) are dairy and egg free and include chia seed pudding and coconut & chocolate mouse. They also make their own soybean “cheese.” If you are after a mid morning break or are experiencing an afternoon slump, they also have plenty of coffee drinks, smoothies and vegan cookies, brownies and muffins. Veggie Macau stocks a selection of health food supplements, superfoods and snacks too if you need to grab something for later!

Open Monday, Wednesday & Thursday: 12-7PM, Friday to Sunday: 12-10PM.
