It’s the roundup you’ve been waiting for – the most comprehensive list of vegan bites and eateries to try out across Hong Kong. For our March 2021 edition, we’ve put together yet again another impressive rundown of new plant-based restaurants who have joined the scene, menu additions at our favourite cafés and more. Here’s the latest.
Le FroMAge opens doors at K11 Musea
Le FroMAge by Ma…and the Seeds has just launched at Tsim Sha Tsui’s K11 Musea mall, becoming Hong Kong’s first-ever 100% vegan cheese shop. The brainchild of raw vegan Chef Tina Barrat, the shop promises to be a dream come true for any herbivore, featuring more than 20 fermented raw cheese wheels, from creamy truffle-infused Shamembert to the garlicky Moon & Earth and Brie with Pink Peppercorn.

Crystal Jade launches all vegetarian menu
The Michelin-recommended chain Crystal Jade has rolled out a separate menu that is entirely meat-free, developed in partnership with Hong Kong’s Green Monday. While the entire menu – featuring OmniPork, Beyond Meat and Heura – is vegetarian, some dishes do contain egg or dairy, so make sure to double check if you’re 100% plant-based.

Bombay Dreams introduces vegan a la carte menu
Bombay Dreams has launched a new separate a la carte menu for vegans, so herbivores (and flexitarians) can pick and choose freely for their meat, dairy and egg-free feast, from palak papad bhaji to classic aloo gobhi, subz kofta topped with a vegan gravy sauce and gluten-friendly rotis on the side.
MA…and the Seeds of Life offering new afternoon tea
Yes, you can now divulge in afternoon tea raw vegan style, thanks to MA…and the Seeds of Life, who have introduced a new afternoon tea set carefully crafted by Chef Tina Barrat and her team. Think “chiaviar” with quinoa blinis, keto bread with herby vegan cheese and daily assorted mini cakes paired with wellness tea. Book ahead at +852 6469 4533.
Veda revamps breakfast menu
Ovolo Hotel’s all-vegetarian restaurant concept Veda in its Central establishment has created a new breakfast menu, and while not everything is vegan-friendly, there are quite a few options for a fully plant-based brekkie, from your classic avocado toast to something a bit more special, like a rice flour-based uttapam with tomato chutney and a hearty bowl of overnight oats made with 85% dark organic chocolate and peanut butter.
Classified rolls out new plant-based offerings
Your neighbourhood café Classified has just introduced brand new plant-based options to its menu. Featured are sweet corn nachos (topped with vegan cheese and coconut yoghurt), an Impossible minced meat pie, Omnipork quesadillas, Beyond Meat pizza and a fishless fillet burger made with Gardein’s vegan alternative. Yum.
Poem brings on an all-vegan ‘green paradise’ menu
Lan Kwai Fong favourite Poem, which showcases modern Indonesian cuisine, has launched a 100% vegan green paradise menu, available from Monday through Wednesday evenings. The three-course feast starts off with a plant-based gado gado before a vegetable-filled yellow curry for a scrumptious main, and finishes with fresh seasonal fruit.
Ice Age! partners with Matchali, Cookie DPT & Yardbird
Ice Age!, Hong Kong and Asia’s first animal-free ice cream made with food tech Perfect Day’s precision fermentation dairy, is now collaborating with Matchali, Cookie DPT and Yardbird to create new cruelty-free desserts. Their animal-free ice creams are also back at Great supermarket in Pacific Place, with more retail locations to come soon!

Over 170 restaurants are launching Impossible Foods dishes for Earth Month: For the whole of April, more than 170 restos in the city are expanding their plant-based offerings with Impossible Foods, while ParknShop is rolling out dim sums and ready meals made with Impossible Meat. Green Common debuts vegan ice cream: Green Common has rolled out a new vegan ice cream range made with cashew and coconut milk, currently coming in two flavours – matcha and chocolate. You can grab them at 7-Elevens and Green Common stores across the city.
Treehouse partners with Nuteese: Healthy slow fast food concept Treehouse is collaborating with local vegan cultured cheese brand Nuteese, and have launched a special ‘Holy Umami’ wheel in addition to in-house cheese boards featuring Nuteese’s range. They’re also available for retail to take home.
Sai Kung Cookie Co. now serves vegan cookies: If you’re craving some sweet treats, try out local startup Sai Kung Cookie Co.’s new plant-based cookies. We’ve tried them – they’re delicious.
Detour café offering Bake to Basics vegan pastries: Detour is now serving a number of vegan treats crafted by Bake to Basics, from slutty brownies to cinnamon rolls and a range of cookies that come in everything from Nutella to matcha.
