Hong Kong’s First Preloved Luxury Fashion Resale Warehouse Opens in Wong Chuk Hang

Hong Kong preloved online consignment platform HULA has found a permanent home in Wong Chuk Hang with the opening of the city’s first warehouse dedicated to upscale & luxury secondhand fashion. Spanning a massive 3,500 square feet, the space showcases some of the best designer womenswear labels with over 50 brands and more than 5,500 curated pieces up that are up to 95% off. Designer items include Alexander McQueen, Balenciaga, Celine, Chanel, Chloé, Christian Dior, Fendi, Givenchy, Gucci, Hèrmes, Isabel Marant, Louis Vuitton, Saint Laurent, Stella McCartney, Valentino and more.

Founded by fashion veteran Sarah Fung in 2016, HULA became a sought after online destination in luxury consignment before settling in the Southern district this month. Conscious fashionistas can now thumb racks of all-season women’s apparel and accessories in person and off with confidence under HULA’s stringent authenticity policies. The company has begun implementing Entrupy, the world’s first and only on-demand authentication solution for luxury handbags, offering customers ultimate traceability and peace of mind.

Shoppers looking to enhance or elevate their individual look can book styling and wardrobe detox packages with HULA’s in-house stylists for house calls at an hourly rate (HK$1,000 for two hours). Image consulting packages are also available, not to mention that the designer warehouse can be booked for bachelorette parties, corporate outings or private shopping excursions with groups and girlfriends, complete with bubbles, light refreshments and snacks.

Valued at USD2.4 trillion, the fashion and textile industry is the world’s second largest consumer of water, generating about 20% of the world’s wastewater, and releases half a million tonnes of synthetic microfibers into the ocean each year, not to mention the amount of waste generated by the global appetite for fast fashion. Despite most clothing being close to 100% recyclable, according to the UN Alliance for Sustainable Fashion, the industry loses approximately US$500 billion annually due to a lack recycling efforts and a significant amount of product ending up in landfill before ever being sold. Preloved fashion concepts like HULA are upending the industry- according to the recent thredUP Annual Resale Report, fashion resale is a US$24 billion market, projected to double to US$51 billion in the next five years.
