It’s the news you’ve been waiting for – the most comprehensive list of new vegan bites and eateries to try out across Hong Kong this month, and as always, we’re amazed at how the city’s plant-based food scene just keeps growing, especially give market conditions at the moment. From exciting menu additions at our favourite vegan restaurants to brand new plant-based cafés opening their doors, here’s the latest in plant-based dining this November.

Plant-based restaurants step up their game with new menus & more

Chef Tina Barrat opens new vegan and gluten-free restaurant MA: Chef Tina Barrat, famed in the Hong Kong plant-based community for her 100% plant-based cheese wheels, vegan lunch delivery service and as the co-founder of the beloved late Maya Café Mediterranean Lifestyle, has just opened her brand new restaurant concept. Called MA…and The Seeds of Life, the new fine-dining restaurant will showcase Barrat’s creative and colourful raw vegan creations and it’s one not to be missed.

Treehouse expands Deliveroo locations: Thanks to Deliveroo Kitchens, your favourite wholesome “slow fast food” plant-based Treehouse bowls and flatbreads are now available to order from Sai Ying Pun and Kennedy Town locations! Plus, Treehouse has just added new delicious wraps and bowls to its menu, and has brought its sourdough vegan pizzas to their Central flagship location, available from 6.00pm onwards. 

Miss Lee launches new menu: Modern Chinese Restaurant Miss Lee has undergone a menu refresh thanks to newly appointed chef Siu Hin Chi from Ying Jee Club as its culinary consultant. The new items combine meticulous cooking drawn from traditional expertise with natural ingredients, in an enhanced approach towards modern Chinese vegetarian cuisine.

The Cakery introduces vegan croissants: Organic and free-from bakery chain The Cakery has just launched their own vegan croissants, creme brulee and lemon tarts on top of their vegan cakes and cupcakes. 

SpiceBox Organics now serves vegan gluten-free quiches: Your go-to organic and plant-based specialty store and café SpiceBox Organics is now serving 100% vegan quiches, available both in-store, takeaway and for delivery. There will be two flavours, Mushroom and Smoky Eggplant, and both are gluten-free too.

Veda debuts 100% vegan menu for World Vegan Month: In honour of World Vegan Month and as a celebration of Ovolo Hotels’ recent pledge to make all its restaurants globally 100% vegetarian, their already plant-based restaurant Veda, situated above Lan Kwai Fong on Arbuthnot Road is serving up a 100% vegan menu for the whole of November.

Big Dill is popping in Kennedy Town: every Saturday and Sunday this November, grab some of the city’s most indulgent burgers, gyros and shawarma fries from Big Dill, who is serving up their 100% vegan comfort food classics at To Be Frank Bar on Forbes Street in K Town.

Omni joints are going vegan-friendly, from pizza to mezze 

Dough Bros serving vegan sourdough pizza: Dough Bros, the Tai Hang sourdough pizza joint that has won a cult following and has since opened in SoHo and Kennedy Town, is now serving up The Game Changer, a 100% plant-based pie featuring sweet peppers, caramelised onions and vegan mozzarella.

Pici debuts Go Green Menu: Fresh pasta superstars Pici just debuted a new “Go Green Menu” which includes a vegan quinoa flour strozzapreti with kale cashew nut pesto, and their sister restaurant The Pizza Project is also hopping onboard with a cheese-less vegan truffle pizza. 

888 Fatfatfat dishing out vegan Chinese classics: Don’t miss 888 Fatfatfat, a 2-month-only Chinese cuisine pop-up who tapped Chef Peggy Chan to help with menu development. While it’s not exclusively plant-based, half the menu (14 dishes!) is vegan including the must-try Peking duck wraps made with cured jackfruit and crispy tofu wrapped in the classic pancakes.

Pala adds 100% plant-based panini & pizza: Italian neighbourhood spot Pala Wan Chai is a good choice if you are dining with omni friends. While it’s got plenty for meat and dairy lovers, the menu also includes a vegan panini and a vegan pizza that we’ve been told are delicious! 

The Tea Academics offering mostly vegan café menu: A new sister locale from the Coffee Academics Group, The Tea Academics, is devoted to the humble cha drink and serves a mostly vegan food menu including the yummy plant-based mezze plate with Impossible meat skewers and homemade green hummus.   

New plant-based deliveries, grab-n-go meals & deals in town

House of Hummus delivers fresh dips to your door: Looking for fresh hummus, but can’t be bothered to make your own? The House of Hummus offers handmade traditional hummus and pita for delivery in a range of flavours like Spiced, Lemon Garlic, Sweet & Smoked Eggplant or the always popular Classic

McDonald’s launches new OmniPork Luncheon breakfast series: Fast food lovers, rejoice! McDonald’s Hong Kong has launched an all-new plant-based menu in collaboration with Green Monday, which has rolled out across all 280 McDonald’s and 122 McCafé locations in the city and in Macau. There are 6 dishes on offer containing the food tech’s vegan “spam” substitute OmniPork Luncheon – and we’ve given a complete run-down on each dish and which items can be made vegan-friendly here

7-Eleven adds frozen vegan ready-meals to every store: Convenience chain 7-Eleven is also hopping on the vegan trend, now offering customers two new 100% plant-based ready-meals made by Green Monday’s OmniFoods across all of its 800 stores in Hong Kong. Both frozen ready meals contain the vegan pork mince OmniPork, and can be easily reheated and enjoyed within minutes.

Pizza Express offering discounts for Instas: Pizza Express, the famous restaurant chain that offers vegan pizzas with Daiya’s plant-based cheese at several of its locations in Hong Kong, has just launched a new digital game, where you can use the Instagram Filter “PizzaExpress #PECheer4U” to snap a shot and tag @pizzaexpresshk to nab a 30% off discount with every HK$250 spend!
