When life in our crazy city is getting just a tad too stressful, there’s no better way to ease the stress than to schedule in a good punching session. Not to mention that boxing/fighting of any kind is a world class workout, keeping you lean,  raising endorphin levels and building serious strength. Whether you prefer Muay Thai, other combat sports such as Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) or Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) or traditional western boxing there are a number of punchtastic options in Hong Kong. Here are six of the best!

Epic MMA & Fitness

August 2017 Update: Epic MMA has closed down.

Epic MMA & Fitness has grown in recent years and now includes locations in Central, Stanley, Tsim Sha Tsui and Tung Chung (Lantau). The enormous, 15, 000 square feet, Central location originally focused on MMA before branching out into boxing, BJJ, Muay Thai and Krav Maga (Israeli Defence Form System). Multiple classes are offered daily, including Sundays and you can find the full schedule here. The Kowloon location also offers kickboxing, BJJ, Muay Thai and Krav Magra and you can find the schedule here. All classes may be booked online. They offer a free trial class and after that classes are HKD 280 with discounted packages available.

Impakt boxing ring

Impakt

Impakt is a gym specializing in the art of combat. They offer boxing, kickboxing, Muay Thai, BJJ, Kyokushin Karate and MMA. Impakt provides group classes as well as personal training, plus a complete gym including a full size boxing ring. Individual classes are HKD 250 with additional options for Impakt gym members and discounted packages. They have classes daily except Sundays and the schedule can be found here. The Studio by JAB offers group classes, small group training and personal training options for those looking to explore Mixed Martial Arts (MMA), boxing, kickboxing, and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ). They offer opportunities to try out your new moves with fun social and (semi-)competitive events like their inter-club white collar competitions and their annual hedge fund fight night for serious amateur fighters. Multiple classes are offered most days and you can find the schedule and book classes here.

Sitpinyo is an independent fitness studio specializing in Muay Thai: the founder are all professional class Muay Thai fighters. Classes have a maximum of either four to six boxers, meaning the everyone gets ample attention to improve their form and see fast results. Sitpinyo offers classes, small group training and personal training sessions. Multiple group classes are hosted from Monday to Saturday, see the full schedule here. Classes are HKD$200 up depending on the time of day, a bargain compared with most other studios, and discount packages are available. DEF Boxing Round

DEF BOXING

Ever wondered what it would be like to actually go for a round in the ring? At DEF BOXING, you can train like a pro and even participate in one of their DEF Fight Nights. The studio specializes in western boxing and is home to Hong Kong’s only pro boxer. DEF provides personal training and group classes that include boxing, sparring, competition classes and Muay Thai. You can find the schedule and do online bookings here. Classes are HKD 275 with discounted packages available, and an additional fee for the competition classes.
