Délifrance Launches Beyond Burger Across Hong Kong

Beyond Meat, the prominent plant-based burger startup, has expanded its reach across Hong Kong with the partnership between global food and beverage brand, Délifrance, and social enterprise, Green Monday, to launch the Beyond Burger on their menus. Beginning July 12 2018, all Délifrance locations and local restaurant chain specializing in European cuisine, alfafa, will serve the vegan burger for a limited time. Topped with avocados, tomatoes, cucumbers, and French mustard seed sauce, the Beyond Burger comes with a side potato salad for HKD 109 at both respective establishments.

Made from pea protein, beetroot juice and coconut oil, the 100% vegan patty is packed with 20 grams of plant protein and contains zero cholesterol, no hormones, no antibiotics and even boasts a higher protein content than the traditional beef patty. The company, helmed by longtime vegan and former fuel cell engineer, Ethan Brown, has garnered international acclaim and funding by celebrities like Bill Gates, Leonardo DiCaprio and even conventional meat corporation, Tyson Foods. The recent retail debut of the vegan burger has caused a frenzy overseas, rapidly selling out at American supermarket chain Whole Foods and restaurants across the nation. In Hong Kong, according to SCMP, Beyond Meat sales have quadrupled over the past year.

European bakery supplier Délifrance operates 17 locations throughout Hong Kong. Keeping up with the growing demand for healthy, sustainable and great tasting meals, this addition marks a growing shift in the city’s awareness to avoid meat and dairy products to reduce our environmental impact on the planet.
