HK Yoga Teacher Series: Meet Charlotte Douglas

2 Mins Read

How did yoga enter your life?

I took my 250-hour teacher training at Yoga Limbs in Hong Kong in 2011. Sadly the school is no longer around but back then it was a fabulous place to study and practice yoga.

Where and what type of yoga do you teach?

I freelance, offering private and group classes all over Hong Kong island. I am also about to start teaching at the new yoga studio in town Kita Yoga. I do not follow any one lineage of yoga, for me yoga is simply what I practice and that is what I teach.

What yoga mat do you use every day?

My favorite yoga mat has to be the Jade Yoga Mat: it just has a wonderful feel to it and it is also an ethical choice thus making it a win-win.

GQ: Find them at The Iyengar Yoga Centre of Hong Kong and at Colorpilla.

What is your favorite yogawear brand?

For absolute quality, look and feel it will always be Lululemon– about twice a year I stock up on the essentials. Then I add to that with lesser known brands such as SeaSoul & Snow, some tops my UK studio has produced and Sweaty Betty.

What is your daily mantra?

My daily mantra is ‘Keep going’.  Whenever I have a moment of doubt, of which there are many, I just tell myself to keep on going and to keep faith in myself. Click To Tweet

What yoga studio do you enjoy practicing at?

The rooftop of my house on Lamma Island is my yoga shala, I have a strong self practice. I also use YogaGlo’s online classes regularly – I love the teachers they have there and whilst it is not the same as going into a studio, I learn a lot from them.

Where do you go to eat?

I love MANA! Fast Slow Food, HOME Eat to Live and Nood– on rotation!

What’s your favorite thing about Green Queen?

When I met Sonalie [Green Queen’s founder], I was absolutely struck by how much she cares about the wellness industry in Hong Kong and how hard she works to ensure the content they provide and share is of the utmost quality and integrity. Supporting local businesses is so vital, especially in the consumerist society we live in today. It is so hard to make yourself known and so champions of business such as Green Queen are vital. Thank you for all that you do!
