There’s no better feeling than sweating out your frustrations during an incredible spin sesh. The perspiration dripping out of your pores, the camaraderie amongst your fellow riders, the motivational pick-me-ups your instructor is shouting through the mic. Indoor cycling is one of the best forms of exercise out there, it builds endurance and strength, it’s a high-intensity interval training workout (great for fat loss) and with the right teacher, you can really push past your limitations. For the uninitiated rider with no idea where to start, fear not: we’ve compiled a list of the best indoor cycling studios in Hong Kong. 

XYZ Indoor Cycling Studio

Nicknamed “The Cave,” XYZ‘s dimly lit indoor cycling studio is a reprieve against Hong Kong’s daily intensities. With pulse-pounding playlists to get in the zone, their neon lighting filled clubhouse evokes a fun night on the town as opposed to a grueling trip to the gym. Each class will summon a different spirit in you, be it pumped-up energy, tough love rage, or zoned-out bliss, thanks to the varying personalities of the instructors. Every class at any of their two locations are sure to be cardio-intensive, calorie-burning, and full on sweat-tastic. If you have tried Soul Cycle, this is as close as you are gonna get in the +852.

Pure Fitness

Considered the OG for indoor cycling enthusiasts, Pure Fitness‘s Schwinn spinning game is still going strong with a Les Mills RPM approach. Pure Fitness has dedicated cycle rooms with lots of classes across nine locations throughout the city. Offering a variety of classes that focuses on different cardiovascular workouts, classes run anywhere between 35 and 50 minutes, with some incorporating HIIT and others offering an immersive visceral ride backed with music and graphics. Overall, Pure Fitness provides a more “classic” spin experience than the others in this list and has a great deal of flexibility in terms of schedules.

Velocity Aquabike

Velocity Studio

Hong Kong’s first solo -and female-only – aquabike studio, Velocity is an innovative 30-minute indoor cycling session that takes place while you are fully immersed in a jacuzzi spa cabin. Engineered in France, the freestanding stationary bike has oxygenated, ozone-infused water to detoxify your skin and maintains your body temperature via climate-controlled water so you don’t need to worry about sweating off your makeup. Perfect for working professionals who need a workout between meetings and don’t want to mess up their hair & makeup, each aqua bike workout burns up to 500 calories and includes brisk jet massages to boost circulation in a weightless environment.

The HIT Room

Following the Les Mills RPM protocol, the world’s largest provider of choreographed exercise-to-music group fitness classes to pump up their riders, The HIT Room’s intense and fast-paced cycling sessions are great for all fitness levels. Located in Discovery Bay, their 45-minute classes consists of a light warm up before going through intervals of speed and resistance, ending your recovery ride with the all important stretch.

Hydro 1.0 AquaCycleHydro 1.0

This Kennedy Town hydro training facility is a high-intensity, extremely low-impact workout designed to keep your knees safe while allowing you to build endurance and increase muscle strength thanks to the resistance the water provides. Offering weekly Aqua Spinning classes to help burn calories, Hydro 1.0 is also ideal for those with arthritis or undergoing physical rehabilitation.

Torq Cycle

If friendly competition is the motivation you need to get that blood pumping, Torq Cycle is where it’s at. (it’s basically Hong Kong’s answer to Flywheel) Your live stats are broadcast on a giant leaderboard at the front of the class to keep up your own ride accountability, and that of your fellow riders. After each workout, you receive a personal email so you can track your progress and performance goals. Utilising free weights to maximize your time on the bike and turn the session into a full body workout, Torq’s philosophy is a passion for performance with a mission to help you achieve major results.
