If you’re wondering whether there is enough plant-based food to match the number of sights you can see in this city, there definitely is – everything from authentic Cambodian cuisine to a wide range of international fare. Here’s our guide to the best spots to taste your way through Siem Reap.  

Green-Go Garden

Green-Go Garden is a 100% vegan Mexican and internationally inspired restaurant open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. From bruschetta platters to burrito bowls, everything here is plant-based, including wine, craft beers and cocktails. Plus, they have a juice bar where you can sip on colourful detox juices, and a co-working space if you happen to need to do a little bit of work while you’re away from home.

Mahob Buos

Mahob Buos is an all-vegan social enterprise restaurant serving up plant-based versions of Cambodian cuisine. Established in 2017 by the Azahar Foundation, all the profits from this restaurant goes towards supporting a number of community projects around the area. Not only will you be able to help fund local charitable causes, you can taste authentic Cambodian dishes all made without meat or fermented fish paste, which are common ingredients in traditional Khmer cuisine.

Vibe Asia

Cambodia’s very first 100% plant-based café, Vibe Asia since its inception has become a popular destination for the local health and fitness crowd. Here, you’ll find whole foods-based dishes that are made using ethically sourced ingredients that are organic whenever possible. They also have a number of drinks that incorporates traditional Cambodian herbs known for their medicinal and healing properties.

Chamkar House Vegetarian Restaurant

Surrounded by trees and gardens is Chamkar House, a long-time veggie spot within Temple Town of Siem Reap. The vegetarian restaurant with loads of vegan-friendly options is focused on Khmer cuisine, and you’ll find the most authentic plant-based takes on traditional dishes such as stuffed tofu with fried pumpkin and stir-fried eggplant in coconut milk. Bonus: all their ingredients are locally sourced and organic whenever possible.

Peace Café Angkor

Peace Café is a Buddhist social enterprise that advocates for healthy living and vegetarianism. From burgers, salads and curries, there is a whole lot to choose from their extensive vegetarian and vegan-friendly menu. For fully plant-based folk, staff are happy to point out which dishes contain no dairy or eggs, and some dishes can be made vegan upon request. In addition, the cafe serves as a community garden for yoga and meditation, and sometimes cooking classes and volunteering workshops too!

Banllé Vegetarian Restaurant

Banllé is a vegetarian restaurant with lots of 100% plant-based options located in a restored old Khmer wooden house with a beautiful back garden. Using organic seasonal vegetables from its own on-site farm, this restaurant is where you’ll be able to taste Cambodian vegetable amok, grilled tofu, mushroom curry and platters topped with homemade sweet and sour sauce. A perfect place to discover the food traditions of the Khmer people sans animals.
