Hong Kong’s Best Locally Made Granolas: Our Pick Of The 7 Healthiest

6 Mins Read

Here at Green Queen, as staid as it may seem, we simply love granola! For breakfast, lunch, dinner or packed for a hike snack, we simply cannot get enough. Honestly, making granola is not super complicated (check out our Green Queen recipe here) but it does take time- which a lot of us don’t have. Luckily, there are now quite a few fabulous locally-made granolas around town, all made without added preservatives or other nasties, and each with its own health profile, from paleo to vegan to gluten-free to nut-free!

Foodcraft – Raw, Paleo, Vegan, Gluten-Free, Nut-Free, Organic Ingredients

Foodcraft offers a range of healthy snacks that are a free-from dream, including paleo, vegan, gluten-free and nut-free options. Their nut-free Organic Raw Granola (Goji & Chia),  HKD 95 for 180g. Many who are nut-free feel they must now live their life sans-granola but that’s not so. Foodcraft’s variety is packed with superfoods, goji and chia as the name implies, and also lots of healthy ingredients such as pumpkin seeds. For nut lovers, they also have their Organic Raw Granola Bars (Maple Pecan & Cranberry),  HKD 25 for 60g. All of the organic seeds and nuts have been activated, meaning they have been soaked before dehydrating, helping your body make the most of all of the nutrients. They are of course white sugar free using coconut flower sugar and dark maple syrup. Want a free-from breakfast to brag about? Try one of their Coconut Yoghurt Cups, HKD 48, which come with raw granola (with nuts) and raw goji-chia jam, along with raw coconut yoghurt of course!

Nut & Co

Nut & Co – Vegan, Gluten-Free, Organic Ingredients

Hong Kong’s new artisanal almond milk purveyor (see our glowing review here) also makes a mean granola! Nut & Co‘s ‘Chunky Nut’ Granola, HKD 65 for 400g, is an instant classic. The name comes from the fact that Nut & Co actually hand chops the almonds and pecans creating a granola with perfectly sized nut clumps. It really does make a difference. All of the ingredients are organic, and include coconut oil, as well as maple syrup as a sweetener. Our favorite part? The granola comes in the same bottles as their almond milk. We had an “Ah-Ha” moment when we realized that all cereals should come in bottles as they are far easier to pour and store. Genius. Pour some of their organic hand-pressed almond milk onto your granola bowl for a delicious and locally-made start to your day.

moxo granola

Moxo Living – Vegan, Gluten-Free, Organic Ingredients

In addition to their superfood protein powders and the best coconut macaroons Green Queen has ever tasted, Moxo Living offers a selection of organic mueslis. Muesli is granola’s European cousin, and for those who are wondering, the key difference is normally that in a muesli, the oats are not baked. Moxo Living’s creator is a health coach who insists on using all organic ingredients in her vegan and gluten-free cereal blends. There are two varieties: Coconut Bliss, HKD 125 for 350g, which is sweetened with coconut flakes and brown rice syrup and contains almonds, cashews, flaxseeds, and chia seeds; and Nutty Cinnamon, HKD 135 for 350g, which contains almonds, pecans, and brazil nuts as well as flaxseeds and white mulberries, and is sweetened with pure maple syrup.
